I am a fan of roller coasters, as well as being a fan of wood craftsmanship. It looks like Knoebels Amusement Resort is building a death-trap that is the perfect marriage of both! You have got to check out these pictures of the “Classic” wooden roller coaster they are building called “Flying Turns.”

Thanks to Eric Bigler for the info!

If you want to check out the other internet radio station I have on almost all the time, you can check it out here:

I had a really good jam with Lee & Adrian last week. It’s a new project we have been toying with called URANUS. Right now we are just improvising bits here and there and hope to formalize them into songs. Here is a jam we did called Phoenixville… Streaming from WKMJP

JASON HILL FOR PRESIDENT

The actual goal is 2024. If it happens in 2020, that would be a blessing… just because it would seem to fall in line with one of my favorite tunes (In The Year) 2525. My current thinking is, go with a 2020 marketing campaign, then, if it doesn’t pan out, I am going to go full force within the next electorate period with “Write-In, Right-On”, a campaign marketed to making Jason Hill the first write-in elect. Amerika is fukt… we gotta get it back. What do you think?

P.S. - Jason doesn’t know he’s running yet, so don’t mention it to him. I want to break the news gently.

For the past month or so, I have been spending a lot of my time at WebLinc doing wireframes, designing a nonfunctional prototype for a new platform that we will potentially be creating. I love to listen to music while I work, but when I really need to concentrate, I find a lot of music distracting; it takes some effort on the part of the listener to interpret the aural onslaught. Luckily, however, I stumbled upon the “Secret Agent” station on SomaFM. I would highly recommend it as accompaniment to any task where you really need concentration. However, if you are doing repetitive tasks at work that don’t require any thought, I recommend Howard Stern or Frank Zappa to keep your brain exercised and alert.

You can find this radio station right in iTunes under Radio > Eclectic > Secret Agent on SomaFM. Or, simply click on the link on the SomaFM website (or click here) and use iTunes to open the stream.

Enjoy! (and be productive)

My coworkers at WebLinc have been trading links for getting more out of our company-issued iPhones. Although I haven’t checked them all out yet, the coolest one seems to be Appleopolis, which provides a wide array of web-based applications that look just like your iPhone home screen. Thanks to Steve Byrne for sending that to me.

James also sent over an email about a company called Blue Flavor that is putting out a bunch of iPhone apps called Leaflets.

It certainly is cool to see how much the release of the iPhone is doing to change the face of mobile computing and communications. More to come, I’m sure…

I was at this airport in Santa Marta in January this year. Luckily our trip went much better than this! Here are my photos from Santa Marta (the beach pics), and here is the story from today…

BOGOTA, Colombia — A plane carrying 59 people skidded off a wet runway and into the Caribbean Sea in Colombia, causing minor injuries to seven, aviation officials said.

The Brazilian-made Embraer 190 plane operated by operated by Aero Republica was carrying 54 passengers and five crew members from Cali to Santa Marta, a tourist destination on Colombia’s north coast.

Up to this point, the Beasties have had 3 major points of view: hard core, rap, and funk. They have had a million or so subsequent points of view. .. and they have just moved one of them up into the majors by releasing a whole album dedicated to it… THE FREAK.

It is difficult on this album to determine what parts are carefully crafted versus improvisational hi-tech studio sessions fueled by decades of history together, a lust of freakin’ funk, and the urge to recreate themselves. It sways from a Marvin Gaye/Curtis Mayfield backup band to Cymande-laden Afrojazz rhythms with echoplex overlays & funkeys, continually contorting itself into this new Beast… a freaky Beastie with thick sounds, rich soul, seasoned texture, and a smoooooth sailin’ forward-thinkin’ lookin’-back attitude.

This album is fun and easy. There’s not much to think about… it flows along with familiar themes, albeit not ones solely characteristic of the BBoys… it might as well be some new band’s amazing debut album… or some really old band’s amazing debut album with a small portal into the future.

Definitely get this album.

Are you a meat lover? If you know me, then you know how much meat means to me. Unfortunately, I am also quite cheap when it comes to groceries, and even cheaper with my time when it comes to preparing a meal. That’s because I know there a ton of places I can go that can select the meat better, and prepare the meat better, than I ever could. Well my friends, I just found the Mecca of all of these places… Fogo de Chão.

Fogo de Chão uses the Brazilian churrasco style of preparing meat… LOTS of meat… and keeps it coming continuously until you are ready for a break. They give you a cardboard “coin” - if your coin is on the green side, it means “keep the meat train rolling”, and when you switch it to the red side, it means “I’m taking a break… and as soon as I get a little peristaltic action over here, I’m diving back into the meat pool for a few more backstrokes…”

However… this is no “buffet” style dining… each slice of meat is of the highest quality you can imagine! Really, it is just incredible the variety of meat they come to offer you when the chip is green. Here is what I can piece together from my shitty memory of the lunch I enjoyed there this past Tuesday…

  • Fillet Mignon
  • Fillet Mignon wrapped in bacon
  • Rib eye Steak (was honestly my favorite… melted upon tongue contact)
  • Pork ribs
  • Parmigiana encrusted Pork
  • Parmigiana encrusted Chicken
  • Parmigiana encrusted Veal
  • Veal tenderloin
  • Bacon wrapped Chicken
  • Lamb chops (oooooh… I had 3 helpings of these…)
  • Pork sausage
  • There were many more I know I am forgetting…

The salad bar had an array of Italian deli meat (the good ones) and cheeses, as well as items such as “heart of palm” and other exotic elements. But who the hell needs the salad bar in a place like this? What idiot would fill up on the complimentary home-baked bread? Carnivore, please….

On a scale of 1 to 10, this restaurant goes to 11. The service is incredible… you flip your chip to green, and all of a sudden there is a horde of meat dispensers at your disposal. At about $30 per person for lunch, it is perfectly priced given the incredible quality of the meat. Dinner is about double the price, and the menu is the same - so if you want to experience this on the cheap side, go for lunch. But seriously, given the quality of this meat, dinner is also under priced. It’s the kind of place where you think it is expensive, until you are eating, and then you are like “wow… I get it!”

I would like to hear what other people think about this place! Let me know if you have had an experience there… and if you haven’t, you should definitely check it out!!!
