B2C Ecommerce Website Launch - WebLinc Commerce B2C (Ruby on Rails) Implementation
This traditionally B2B company (a home brand or whitelabled option for big box stores) decided to get into the B2C business with their own branded website. This was their first B2C website and there were several interesting factors with this build. B2C eCommerce Website with Ruby on Rails build. I was the Project Manager on this project for 2 years.
- This was the very first client to launch on the Ruby on Rails version of WebLinc Commerce, later branded as WorkArea.
- This was the first WebLinc Commerce site to entirely use Smart Categories for merchandising. Product attributes automatically assigned every product to the necessary categories on the website. No manual merchandising took place; everything was business rule driven. Although this is standard for today's ecommerce world, this was groundbreaking at the time.
