Dr. Gonzo & Raoul DukeThis past Thursday I had the pleasure of playing Dr. Gonzo for the Flying Dog Gonzo Beer Dinner at National Mechanics. The people from Flying Dog were really great, and I think I am now hooked on their Raging Bitch Belgian-Styled Ale. Darren went as Raoul Duke and Kate, as always, did an amazing job with the decorations.

There is a much better write-up about event here:

Check out this article featuring my coworker Dan Pehrson…

Dan is a great guy who is very smart about being a gun owner. He is politically active about it and even has his own non-profit organization with an informative website where you can learn more about the laws, politics and safety around firearms.

Check out his website here: http://www.pafoa.org/

Check out this video, produced by a friend of Lee’s. It uses some of our music! Pieces from King Rubby in the Garden of Eden and a couple of Karma Canon tracks are featured.

My Uncle Tim has company called Elysee Productions that puts out old B Movie Horror Soundtracks. Why? Because he has an inside scoop on these things. He has been a horror movie fan his whole life, and knows a lot of the old masters in the Biz (he used to be a staff writer for Fangoria). So he has been taking unreleased soundtrack masters, remastering them and putting out CDs of these works. These are no-run-of-the-mill CDs either… we’re talking 16 page full color inserts CDs!

Anyway, I personally feel he is doing justice to some great music that would otherwise go unappreciated for some movies that, well, it’s OK if you don’t understand their place in horror history and kind of laugh at them by today’s standards. They are fully-orchestrated scores, and I am really proud to say my Uncle put these out to the public.

My friend Michael Miller (guitarist in Karma Canon) has been doing some art work for a Korean Company called Olleh. I liked the concept and wanted to post some of his work on the project so far. He is going to be in Korea for a month working on it, so Karma Canon is on another extended hiatus… bad for rock, good for Michael!

I helped my buddy Dan put out his debut album Flesh and Spirit. He was recently interviewed about it in SPARK Magazine from Delaware.

I celebrated my birthday at National Mechanics a couple of weeks ago, and my friend Kate made me a MEATCAKE!!! The exclamation marks are necessary, because it should be screamed, not said.

The MEATCAKE!!! consisted of 2 meatloaf-ish areas filled with 3 whole cheddardogs cooked within, and bits of cheddardog interspliced. These 2 areas were joined with a mashed potato and bacon filling. Next, mashed potatoes were applied like a frosting, and bacon & cheddar bits sprinkled the top. The best part was that it tasted heavenly!

Thanks again Kate!!! The MEATCAKE!!!…
